At We Free Trees, our goal is to be an ecosystem of initiatives that expands access to climate opportunities and builds self-sustaining, locally owned pathways for climate action, innovation, workforce development, and community leadership and impact. We activate pathways that grow community wealth, strengthen local economies, and build resilient ecosystems that thrive for generations to come — ensuring communities of color see themselves as leaders, innovators, and architects in shaping a just climate future.
We attract direct investment and design intentional pathways for implementation, ensuring every initiative is resourced, piloted, and executed in community for real and enduring impact. We center creativity and cultural relatability, empowering those we serve to see themselves as essential to the solution and to build the climate future they deserve.

We forge creative strategic partnerships, support organizational initiatives and deliverables, and support innovative entrepreneurs, MWBEs, and community-based leaders advancing climate innovation, climate workforce pathways, and implementation. We design culturally resonant programs, accelerators, and community engagements; build climate, environmental, and clean-energy workforce pathways for youth and adults; lead community-centered recruitment efforts; and activate creative approaches that uplift underrepresented communities, build belonging, and make climate action accessible, inspiring, and relatable.
At We Free Trees, we close the gap between vision, investment, and long-term community impact. We empower climate startups, community-rooted organizations, and mission-aligned institutions to transform bold ideas into scalable solutions and sustainable community benefit. From idea to implementation, we nurture initiatives across their full life cycle — supporting strategy, partnerships, program execution, and investment readiness to ensure innovations are built to last.

Our Approach
To guide our efforts, we developed the 3-Branch Ecosystem Framework—a regenerative, full-lifecycle model that helps us identify climate functions and opportunity drivers that accelerate local economic growth. This framework anchors our commitment to innovation, workforce development, and community advancement—ensuring every climate initiative we support is intentional, inclusive, and built to thrive in the unique cultural and economic contexts of the communities we serve.
Too often, well-intended programs especially those focused on communities of color or led by founders of color are set up to fail due to a lack of sustained support. Many initiatives lack the structured off-ramps, investment, and long-term strategy needed to thrive, leading to disproportionate success rates and making equity-focused efforts feel like temporary solutions rather than transformative change.
What sets us apart is our Full-Life Cycle approach, which integrates 3 regenerative branches that drive local economic growth innovation, workforce, and community when designing and building initiatives that are not only impactful but truly self-sustaining. This approach ensures that we intentionally consider the entire life cycle of every initiative, from ideation to implementation to impact, recognizing its pathways of growth over time in these three areas for the communities we serve.
