We Free Trees is a creative climate hub on a mission to strengthen the connection between climate and culture in creative and relatable ways.

As an ecosystem of initiatives, we enhance organizational efforts, support emerging and established climate-aligned businesses across sectors and disciplines, and strengthen initiatives that drive community engagement, climate innovation, workforce development pathways, and implementation across the environmental, climate, and clean energy space.

Through this work, we expand access, opportunity, and long-term economic mobility by activating participation in the environmental, climate, and clean energy space — within the communities we serve.

Sonali Anderson is a creative climate strategist, entrepreneur, and founder of We Free Trees — a climate and innovation hub strengthening the connection between climate and culture.

Rooted in environmental justice and cultural empowerment, she believes cultural relatability must be embedded in climate education, workforce pathways, entrepreneurship, and innovation to create long-term, community-centered solutions.

Our Approach

Strategic Creativity

Cultural expression has always been central to mobilizing social movements—climate action is no different. We merge strategic creativity with unconventional connections, pulling from new ideas in uncharted territory to think and strategize bigger than ever before. By using creativity as a vehicle, we bridge sectors, forge collaborations, and build transformative solutions that drive long-term impact beyond imagination.

Cultural Relatability

We believe that lasting impact is achieved when our vision and partnerships are deeply aligned with the needs of the communities we serve. True change happens when communities see themselves reflected in the solutions we create. That’s why we prioritize initiatives that don’t just solve challenges but create shared, community-driven benefits. With deep intentionality, we take the time to understand the aspirations and needs of each community, designing solutions that foster ownership, engagement, and long-term success.

Full Life Cycle Approach

We believe in continuously nurturing our initiatives to ensure they evolve into lasting, community-driven solutions. Our Full-Lifecycle approach is built on three regenerative branches innovation, workforce ownership, and community which serve as the foundation for local economic growth. By considering the entire life cycle of every initiative, we ensure that our efforts are not just impactful but also self-sustaining. Through intentional design and holistic support, we create pathways for scalable success, fostering resilience, opportunity, and lasting transformation in the communities we serve.

Our Services

We forge creative strategic partnerships, support organizational initiatives and deliverables, and support innovative entrepreneurs, MWBEs, and community-based leaders advancing climate innovation, climate workforce pathways, and implementation. We will work with your team to design culturally resonant programs, accelerators, and community engagements; build climate, environmental, and clean-energy workforce pathways for youth and adults; lead community-centered recruitment efforts; and activate creative approaches that uplift underrepresented communities, build belonging, and make climate action accessible, inspiring, and relatable.

Throughout this work, our goal is to be an ecosystem of initiatives that expands access to climate opportunities and builds self-sustaining, locally owned pathways for climate action, innovation, workforce development, and community leadership and impact.

We activate pathways that grow community wealth, strengthen local economies, and build resilient ecosystems that thrive for generations to come — ensuring communities of color see themselves as leaders, innovators, and architects in shaping a just climate future.
